Tesla to Wind Down Cybertruck Production to Focus on Cybercab
Tesla plans to phase out Cybertruck assembly next year to reallocate manufacturing capacity toward its upcoming autonomous Cybercab vehicle.

Tesla Inc. will begin winding down production of its Cybertruck next year as the electric vehicle manufacturer shifts its focus and assembly resources toward its upcoming autonomous Cybercab vehicle, Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk announced.
The strategic pivot reallocates factory floor space and engineering support away from the electric pickup to prioritize the development and high-volume production of next-generation transport platforms. Production of the Cybertruck will taper off systematically over the coming year to accommodate operational retooling.
Originally unveiled in late 2019, the stainless-steel Cybertruck served as Tesla’s entry into the lucrative North American utility vehicle market. Positioned as a flagship product featuring high performance metrics and angular, futuristic styling, the truck faced several manufacturing delays and scaling challenges prior to its commercial delivery phase.
The transition underscores Tesla's broader corporate focus on artificial intelligence, autonomous software, and dedicated robotaxi fleet deployment. The Cybercab design relies heavily on full self-driving capabilities, operating without standard driver controls such as steering wheels or pedals.
Tesla has not yet detailed specific schedules for final customer deliveries of current Cybertruck orders, nor has it disclosed the total financial impact of the production phase-out. Further updates on factory allocations are expected in upcoming corporate filings.
