Olga Usatenko

Olga Usatenko is a Ukrainian ballroom and Latin dance champion, dance educator, coach, and developer of an educational methodology centered on children's development through movement.
Her competitive dance career spans more than a decade. Usatenko began competing at a high level in Ukraine and earned her first championship title in 2012. Over the course of her competitive career, she achieved multiple first-place finishes at regional, national, and international competitions and competed across both Standard and Latin ballroom dance programs.
Years of competitive DanceSport shaped the approach she later brought into education and coaching. Rather than treating dance exclusively as a competitive or performance discipline, Usatenko has increasingly focused on its role in children's broader development, including coordination, discipline, confidence, attention, and the ability to recognize and respond to personal progress.
Following the end of her active competitive career, she shifted her professional focus toward coaching and the development of her own teaching methodology. Her approach emphasizes technical precision, posture, musicality, individual development, and long-term progress rather than short-term competitive results. She works with children in ballroom dance and studies how structured movement, practice, feedback, and visible progress can influence learning and behavioral development.
Usatenko's professional interests increasingly sit at the intersection of dance education, developmental psychology, and learning science. Her work explores how principles observed in dance training — repetition, immediate feedback, measurable improvement, embodied learning, and progressive skill development — can help explain broader mechanisms of motivation, discipline, and learning.
In addition to her background in DanceSport, Usatenko holds a degree in International Relations and is a qualified Spanish translator, giving her an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspective that also informs her work as an educator.
She is currently developing her educational work around a model of individualized dance instruction and children's development through movement, while pursuing plans to establish her own dance school in the United States.
