Therabody Recalls 584,000 Theragun Pro Charging Cradles Over Fire Hazard

Therabody has recalled over 500,000 charging cradles sold with its fourth-generation Theragun Pro massagers following reports of overheating and fire risks.

Health and wellness technology company Therabody has initiated a voluntary recall of approximately 584,000 charging cradles supplied with its fourth-generation Theragun Pro handheld massagers. The recall was launched following reports that the charging stands can overheat while plugged in, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

Safety officials advised consumers to immediately stop using the affected charging units and unplug them from wall outlets. The recalled items were sold nationwide through major retail stores, specialty electronics shops, and online platforms between May 2020 and November 2023, both as standalone accessories and bundled with the premium massagers.

The recall strictly applies to the wireless charging stand designed for the fourth-generation Theragun Pro model. The handheld massager itself is not subject to the recall, and users may continue operating the device safely using standard direct-plug charging cables provided with the unit or available separately.

According to safety reports, the company received multiple notifications of the charging cradles overheating during power cycles. Several of these incidents resulted in melted plastic casing and minor property damage, though no personal injuries have been reported to date.

Therabody is instructing affected consumers to register their products online or contact customer service to receive a free replacement charging unit. Owners of the recalled equipment are advised to dispose of the hazardous cradles in accordance with local electronic waste disposal regulations after submitting proof of ownership.
