Video game publisher Take-Two Interactive has filed legal requests to identify users who shared unauthorized gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto VI.

Video game publisher Take-Two Interactive has issued legal subpoenas to tech companies Microsoft and Discord in an effort to identify individuals responsible for distributing unauthorized gameplay footage of the upcoming title Grand Theft Auto VI.

According to court documents filed on Thursday, Take-Two is seeking specific user account information to uncover the identity of alleged copyright infringers. The publisher stated in the filings that the leaked materials include protected audiovisual content, character dialogue, artwork, images, and other proprietary creative elements belonging to the company.

The legal demands require both Microsoft and Discord to produce the requested data by Sept. 4. Take-Two intends to use the information to trace the source of the unauthorized disclosures across various online communication channels and gaming services operated by the two tech platforms.

The leaked video clips, which surfaced across online forums and video platforms, appear to show early prototype footage of Grand Theft Auto VI. Multiple clips contained visual watermarks identifying a user or group operating under the pseudonym "CyberLeek."

The Grand Theft Auto series remains one of the most lucrative properties in the interactive entertainment industry, making its unreleased assets a frequent target for online leaks. Take-Two has historically utilized strict copyright enforcement tools and federal legal processes to combat the unauthorized distribution of its intellectual property.
