Strategy has expanded its cryptocurrency treasury to roughly $70 billion amid a broader resurgence in corporate digital asset acquisitions.
Strategy announced Monday that it acquired more than $21 million worth of Bitcoin last week, bringing the total value of its holdings to approximately $70 billion. The acquisition marks the company's fifth Bitcoin purchase since August, reflecting a renewed wave of corporate treasury additions.
To fund the latest purchase, the company sold more than 125,000 shares of its common stock and utilized $500,000 in cash reserves. Strategy also spent approximately $192 million to repurchase nearly 2 million shares of its preferred stock.
The acquisition coincides with a price rebound across digital asset markets. Bitcoin traded near $82,600 on Monday morning after rising above $77,000 in mid-August. The asset had previously fallen from a high of $126,000 last October to a low of $58,000 in June, prompting some corporate holders to pause acquisitions.
Other corporations have similarly resumed adding digital assets to their balance sheets. Asset management firm Strive recently completed a $169 million Bitcoin purchase, bringing its total treasury to $2.4 billion, while brokerage operator Robinhood disclosed a $25 million direct investment in the cryptocurrency.
Diversification into other tokens has also continued. Ethereum treasury provider Bitmine recently acquired $41 million in Ether, bringing its total reserve to approximately 6 million tokens, or nearly 5 percent of the asset's circulating supply. Meanwhile, Japanese investment firm Metaplanet executed third-quarter transactions to demonstrate treasury liquidity to credit markets.
