Snapchat Introduces 'Plans' Tool for In-App Event Organization

Snap Inc. announced the rollout of "Plans," a new feature suite integrated into Snapchat aimed at streamlining event coordination and real-life meetups directly within the platform. The tools allow users to organize gatherings, track responses, and manage schedules without leaving the messaging application.

The new functionality enables organizers to establish event details, such as time and location, and invite up to 200 friends simultaneously. Invitations are delivered through individual direct messages and feature dynamic Bitmoji avatars that update their appearance visually as recipients accept or decline the invitations.

Event hosts can track real-time RSVP statuses directly within the app interface. To help minimize missed gatherings, the platform automatically dispatches push notification reminders to confirmed attendees shortly before a scheduled event is set to begin.

To support long-term organization, a dedicated "My Plans" tab has been added to individual user profile pages. This centralized section maintains a comprehensive log of both upcoming scheduled events and past gatherings that were organized through the platform.

The feature suite is designed to capture informal event coordination—such as study sessions, birthday celebrations, and weekend social outings—that often originates in standard group chats. The updates are being deployed globally to Snapchat users across both iOS and Android mobile operating systems.
