Skanska Secures $6.9 Billion in Third-Quarter Orders on Data Center Demand
The Swedish construction group posted a second consecutive quarter of record order intake as demand for U.S. data centers boosted its backlog.

Skanska AB reported third-quarter order intake of $6.9 billion, marking the multinational construction group's second consecutive quarter of record contract awards. Strong demand for large-scale building projects, particularly data centers in the United States, sustained a strong backlog across its operational divisions.
The third-quarter results reflect continued expansion in the contractor's key North American development and construction business. Elevated activity in technology and digital infrastructure project wins helped offset broader sector headwinds and softer demand in select residential property markets.
Chief Executive Officer Anders Danielsson said the company intends to further expand its infrastructure footprint within the United States. The strategic focus includes bidding on major civil engineering and public transit infrastructure projects alongside its growing portfolio of specialized high-tech facility developments.
The surge in data center construction follows accelerated capital spending by major technology providers expanding cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Skanska's success in securing major contracts in this segment has strengthened its overall order book while mitigating localized slowdowns in commercial office construction.
Looking forward, the company intends to maintain a selective bidding strategy that prioritizes higher-margin infrastructure and commercial builds. Management expects the North American region to remain a crucial growth engine for the firm's construction stream in the coming quarters.
