SAN FRANCISCO — The dedicated DALL-E GPT tool is scheduled for complete retirement on Aug. 30, requiring users to export and back up previously generated media before the specialized feature becomes permanently inaccessible.

Despite the deprecation of the standalone custom interface, core artificial intelligence image creation capabilities will remain operational. Users will retain full access to image generation and editing functionality directly within standard conversational chat models without needing to launch the dedicated custom tool.

Platform administrators are advising all users to manually download critical visual assets and historical image outputs stored within existing DALL-E GPT conversational threads. Following the formal cutoff date, access to these specialized archived threads will cease, preventing further retrieval of stored content.

The retirement of the standalone tool reflects a broader structural shift toward streamlining custom assistants and specialized tools within AI ecosystems. Developers are increasingly consolidating multimodal features—including text processing, vision analysis, and image synthesis—into unified central models rather than maintaining separate, single-purpose software extensions.
