State officials in North Carolina have initiated legal proceedings against a wedding photography company following allegations that the business accepted roughly $750,000 from clients while failing to deliver contracted event services and images.

The lawsuit, filed in state superior court, seeks $600,000 in financial restitution for defrauded couples alongside $1.1 million in civil penalties. Enforcement authorities are also asking the court to issue a permanent injunction to bar the firm and its owners from conducting photography operations in the state.

According to state investigators, the business collected upfront fees ranging from several hundred to thousands of dollars per contract before abruptly ceasing communications. Affected customers reported that scheduled photographers failed to attend events or that captured media was never edited and delivered.

While the state's legal filing targets monetary recovery, consumer advocates noted that many clients are primarily focused on retrieving unreleased raw photo files and video footage from their wedding ceremonies. State officials said efforts are underway to locate digital assets stored on company servers and hard drives.

The complaint alleges widespread violations of the state's unfair and deceptive trade practices law. A preliminary court hearing regarding asset preservation and injunctive relief is expected later this month, while company representatives have not yet entered a formal legal response.
