Nintendo Designates Nov. 1 as Pikmin Day and Unveils New Game Features
Nintendo announced an annual Pikmin Day alongside new voice control features for Pikmin 4 and an animated short series.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. announced Thursday that Nov. 1 will officially serve as the company's inaugural Pikmin Day, marking an annual celebration for the real-time strategy franchise. Representative Director Shigeru Miyamoto detailed a series of upcoming updates during a digital broadcast, highlighting new gameplay capabilities, mobile software updates, and media expansions.
A primary focal point of the announcement involved enhanced features for Pikmin 4 running on the successor to the Nintendo Switch. The title will support voice command functionality by leveraging the new console's integrated microphone, allowing players to verbally instruct Oatchi, the in-game rescue companion animal.
The title is also receiving a dedicated mode called Dandori Academy, which presents players with specialized task-management challenges to test strategic efficiency. Nintendo confirmed that limited-time testing periods for the mode will take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, providing participants with live online leaderboards to compare skill metrics.
Beyond console hardware, the publisher confirmed impending content updates for Pikmin Bloom, the location-based mobile application developed for smartphone devices. The software update aims to introduce new features to support player engagement alongside the broader franchise milestone.
Expanding the brand into linear media, Nintendo announced Hello! Pikmin, an upcoming series of animated video shorts. Further details regarding release platforms and broadcast schedules for the animated short series are expected to be released in subsequent announcements.
