Mondelez Acquires Majority Stake in Undercover Snacks to Expand Scale
The quinoa-based snack maker will maintain operational independence while leveraging the global food conglomerate's supply chain and distribution network.

CHICAGO — Mondelez International has acquired a majority stake in Undercover Snacks, a manufacturer specializing in quinoa-based confectionery items, according to statements released by the brand's founding family. Financial terms of the transaction were not publicly disclosed.
Founded as a family-owned enterprise, Undercover Snacks produces chocolate-covered quinoa crisps that are certified gluten-free and allergen-friendly. Under the terms of the agreement, the company will maintain its operational independence while leveraging Mondelez's extensive global supply chain, purchasing power, and distribution network.
Company executives stated that partnering with the multinational food conglomerate provides the resources necessary to scale manufacturing capabilities and accelerate retail expansion. The current management team will remain at the helm, managing daily business operations and maintaining production at its dedicated manufacturing facility.
The transaction highlights ongoing interest among major packaged food corporations in acquiring established, health-conscious consumer brands. Global food companies continue to expand their portfolios in the better-for-you snacking segment to meet rising demand for alternative-grain and dietary-restricted food options.
Moving forward, Undercover Snacks intends to utilize the newly secured capital and distribution channels to expand its product footprint across major North American grocery retailers, mass merchants, and e-commerce platforms, with plans to explore international market entry in subsequent phases.
