Construction firm Walbridge has appointed former JLL executive Matt Landek as president and chief executive officer of its new data center venture, L5 Mission Critical.

L5 Mission Critical, a newly formed data center construction and facilities operations firm established by Walbridge, has named Matt Landek as its president and chief executive officer. Landek previously served as global president of data centers and critical environments at commercial real estate services firm Jones Lang LaSalle Inc.

In his new leadership position, Landek will oversee executive management, operational strategy, and commercial expansion for L5 Mission Critical. The company specializes in turnkey infrastructure solutions, construction management, and operational support for enterprise data center developments and high-density computing facilities across North America.

Landek brings more than two decades of experience in commercial real estate, engineering, and critical environment operations. During his tenure at JLL, he directed global data center strategy, oversaw critical facility management, and managed corporate real estate portfolios for major technology companies and financial institutions.

The launch of L5 Mission Critical and Landek’s appointment reflect ongoing demand for specialized data center infrastructure. The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence applications, cloud services, and hyperscale computing needs has driven elevated capital investment into mission-critical facilities throughout the engineering and construction sectors.

Walbridge, a full-service construction management firm headquartered in Detroit, created L5 Mission Critical to target specialized building projects in the technology and energy sectors.
