Insta360 Reaches 10 Million Sales Milestone and Expands Hardware Strategy

Action camera maker Insta360 is opening a flagship store in Times Square and expanding its lineup after securing 73 percent of the 360-degree market.

Action camera manufacturer Insta360 has reached a cumulative sales milestone of 10 million units while securing a 73 percent share of the global 360-degree camera market. The firm is now executing a broader expansion strategy aimed at traditional imaging devices and wearable technology.

To support its physical retail footprint in the United States, the company is opening its first domestic flagship store in New York City's Times Square. The retail venue will showcase the brand's full product portfolio, including omnidirectional cameras, mobile gimbals, and consumer accessories.

The retail expansion comes alongside significant supply chain investments designed to support heightened production schedules. The company recently committed $298 million toward memory chip procurement, securing essential storage components for upcoming manufacturing runs and global hardware shipments.

The manufacturer's dominance in the 360-degree sector relies on dual-lens optical systems that capture entire surroundings simultaneously. This technology allows users to record immersive video and reframe specific angles during post-production editing.

Moving beyond its core capture devices, Insta360 is actively developing smart eyewear and expanding into traditional digital camera categories. The strategic pivot places the hardware maker in direct competition with established legacy camera manufacturers as it seeks to diversify its broader consumer technology portfolio.
