Rockstar Games opens preorders for its digital-only release as the studio manages labor disputes and a revised release schedule.

Preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI have officially opened as developer Rockstar Games established a revised launch date of November 19, 2026, following multiple production delays. The title was originally scheduled for a late 2025 window before being postponed twice during development.

The upcoming installment will be distributed as a digital code-only release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms, omitting physical media at launch. Preorder options include a standard edition priced at $79.99 and an ultimate edition retailing for $99.99.

Set in the fictional region surrounding Vice City, the game centers on dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia. According to official disclosures, the narrative follows the pair through an expanding criminal network after a high-stakes job goes wrong.

The preorder milestone comes amid ongoing labor disputes at the studio, where employees have been pushing for union representation ahead of the launch. Rockstar recently terminated more than 30 workers, alleging they leaked internal company information, though organizers have accused the developer of union busting.

Security issues continue to affect the project, with unauthorized gameplay footage surfacing online ahead of official marketing events. Rockstar is scheduled to host a dedicated preview showcase on August 27, which includes a six-hour initial exclusivity window on Netflix.
