A public fundraising campaign has raised more than $615,000 for the infant daughter of Erin Piacenti following a fatal stabbing in Times Square.

A public fundraising campaign has raised more than $615,000 to support the five-month-old daughter of Erin Piacenti, a Bank of America vice president who was fatally stabbed in Times Square on Monday afternoon.

Piacenti, 32, was returning from maternity leave when she was attacked in what New York City police described as an unprovoked assault. Law enforcement officials identified the assailant as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, who injured another bystander before being shot and killed by responding officers at the scene.

Piacenti served in the financial institution’s Business Selection and Conflicts group, analyzing potential business mandates for the investment bank, where she had worked for 18 months. She previously spent more than three years at the law firm Davis Polk focusing on mergers and acquisitions, and earned degrees from Fordham Law School and the University of Pennsylvania.

"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague," Bank of America said in an official statement. "She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones."

More than 6,000 individual donors have contributed to the fund established for Piacenti's daughter, Madison. A family spokesperson released a statement expressing devastation over the loss, requesting privacy, and encouraging contributions to the campaign in lieu of other gifts.
