WASHINGTON — The Federal Aviation Administration has allocated $870 million in federal funding for airport modernization and infrastructure improvement projects across the United States. The funds will be distributed through 339 individual grants to commercial and general aviation facilities located in 44 states and two U.S. territories.

The allocation is sourced from the agency's Airport Infrastructure Grants program, a key component established under the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This legislative package provides sustained federal support designed to repair aging airfield surfaces, upgrade terminal capacity, and enhance overall operational safety across the national airspace system.

Selected airport authorities plan to use the capital grants for a wide range of development projects. Priority investments include taxiway and runway resurfacing, the construction of modern security checkpoints, upgrades to airfield lighting, and improvements to passenger boarding facilities and intermodal transport connections.
