EcoFlow Unveils Fourth-Generation River Series Portable Power Stations

The River 260 Gen4 and 520 Gen4 feature compact designs, higher capacity options, and longer-lasting LFP battery chemistry.

EcoFlow announced the release of its fourth-generation River series portable power stations, featuring smaller physical footprints and upgraded internal components designed for off-grid energy needs. The new lineup includes the compact River 260 Gen4 and the higher-capacity River 520 Gen4 models.

The entry-level River 260 Gen4 integrates a 256 watt-hour capacity battery and provides up to 300 watts of continuous output via a single alternating-current wall outlet. For low-voltage devices, the unit includes an array of four USB ports to charge mobile phones, camera gear, and other accessories simultaneously.

Stepping up in the lineup, the River 520 Gen4 offers a 512 watt-hour capacity and includes dual AC outlets. The 256Wh and 512Wh energy storage limits represent approximately 2.5 times and 5 times the capacity of the largest power banks currently permitted in commercial airline carry-on luggage.

Both fourth-generation power stations incorporate lithium iron phosphate, or LFP, battery chemistry. LFP configurations are significantly less volatile than conventional lithium-ion cells, providing improved thermal stability, enhanced safety during extended operation, and a longer overall operational lifespan.

The hardware is engineered to support field work, emergency power backup, and outdoor recreation. The power stations are designed to run demanding portable devices, including compact field fridges, satellite broadband terminals, and laptops, without requiring stationary generator infrastructure.
