Dyson has expanded its personal care lineup with the launch of a $499 high-tech electric toothbrush that features an integrated camera designed to automate precision flossing.

The device, marketed as the Dyson CameraJet, pairs an electric toothbrush head with a built-in water flosser. Using a micro-camera mounted near the brush head, the device scans the mouth in real time to locate gaps between teeth and automatically direct pressurized water bursts to clean plaque and debris.

The technology is aimed at consumers who fail to maintain regular flossing habits, offering a combined solution to streamline oral health routines. The release represents Dyson's latest move into the luxury personal care sector, where the company has previously introduced high-priced hair styling devices and air purifiers.

Addressing consumer privacy questions surrounding the use of optical sensors in personal spaces, Dyson stated that the camera system is optimized exclusively for ultra-short-range detection. The sensor operates only when positioned directly against the user's teeth and gums during brushing.

According to product specifications provided by the manufacturer, video feeds generated during use are deleted immediately from the connected smartphone app after viewing. Dyson confirmed that captured images are not stored locally, transmitted to cloud servers, or shared with outside parties.
