Concrete Deck Work Begins on $900M Oklahoma City NBA Arena

Flintco and Mortenson start concrete deck placement and east side loading dock construction for the future Oklahoma City Thunder venue.

Construction crews have reached a major milestone on the new $900 million Oklahoma City sports arena, officially beginning concrete deck placement for the future venue.

A joint venture between construction managers Flintco and Mortenson is overseeing the build of the venue, which will serve as the future home court for the National Basketball Association's Oklahoma City Thunder. In tandem with the concrete deck installation, project workers have commenced structural work on the loading dock walls situated on the east side of the facility.

The commencement of concrete deck pours marks a key transition from early site preparation and excavation into major structural assembly. The deck forms the primary floor levels and seating bowl foundations necessary for the multi-level facility.

Simultaneously, the installation of the east side loading dock walls establishes the core operational infrastructure of the building. Once completed, this section will accommodate broadcast operations, team transport, staging equipment, and backend logistics required for major sports and entertainment events.

The modern venue project aims to replace the existing Paycom Center in downtown Oklahoma City. Funding for the development includes a temporary one-cent municipal sales tax alongside a direct contribution from the team's ownership group, securing the franchise in the city long-term.

Construction activity at the site will continue to accelerate over the coming months, with crews scheduled to advance additional concrete pours and structural framework framing across the property.
