Conagra Discontinues Celeste Frozen Pizza After 60-Year Run

Packaged food manufacturer Conagra Brands is phasing out the legacy frozen pizza label to focus on higher-growth brands.

Conagra Brands has officially discontinued Celeste, the long-running frozen-pizza line, concluding six decades of production and distribution. The decision marks the retirement of one of the retail food industry's most recognizable legacy freezer brands, ending a run that began in the 1960s.

Corporate leadership attributed the move to a strategic realignment aimed at prioritizing faster-growing, higher-margin portfolio assets. The packaged food company is reallocating capital, marketing support, and operational resources toward core brands that demonstrate stronger profitability, including Slim Jim meat snacks and Healthy Choice frozen entrees.

First introduced 60 years ago, Celeste built a prominent presence in grocery store freezer aisles across the United States. Known primarily for its single-serve personal pizzas, the brand served as a staple for budget-conscious consumers for decades before facing growing pressure from newer competitive brands and shifting consumer taste preferences.

The decision to retire Celeste reflects a broader strategy among major food manufacturers to streamline product portfolios and reduce supply chain complexity. Industry producers are increasingly focusing investments on high-performing product categories while divesting or phasing out mature, lower-margin items to boost overall financial performance.

Conagra has initiated the process of scaling down distribution of Celeste items across all retail channels. Remaining inventory will continue to be sold through grocery outlets until existing store and warehouse stocks are fully exhausted.
