CD Projekt Red Announces The Witcher 3 Remaster for September Release

The updated edition of the 2015 role-playing game features enhanced visuals, revised combat mechanics, and a free upgrade for existing platform owners.

Video game developer CD Projekt Red announced that an upgraded edition of its flagship role-playing title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will launch on Sept. 29. Titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered, the new version updates the 2015 release with enhanced visual fidelity and overhauled gameplay systems.

The upcoming release incorporates graphical improvements alongside adjustments to combat mechanics and a redesigned character skill tree. The package includes the complete base game as well as its two major story expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

Current owners of the base game on PC platforms—including GOG, Steam, and the Epic Games Store—as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, will receive the remastered edition as a free digital upgrade upon its release.

The launch also marks the expansion of the title to new hardware platforms. CD Projekt Red confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered will be made available for the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the existing console and PC versions.

Originally released in May 2015, The Witcher 3 has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide and remains a central property for the Polish development studio. The remastered edition represents the latest effort to maintain the title on current-generation gaming hardware.
