Ten non-profit and community organizations have received $200,000 each to advance homeownership solutions under a $25 million initiative.
Capital One has selected ten finalist organizations to receive $200,000 each to further their initiatives aimed at increasing homeownership affordability in local communities across the United States. The initial awards mark the first stage of a broader $25 million philanthropic push targeting national housing challenges.
The ten recipients were chosen based on proposed strategies to address key structural barriers for prospective home buyers, including elevated down payment costs, restricted access to traditional credit, and a shortage of lower-cost inventory.
Over the coming months, the finalists will utilize the seed funding to refine their program frameworks, expand local operational capacity, and prepare detailed execution plans. The organizations represent a range of non-profit entities working across distinct regional housing markets.
Following the refinement period, five of the ten groups will be selected next spring to receive major funding allocations of $4.6 million each. These larger grants are designed to support long-term implementation and allow recipient organizations to scale their operations significantly.
The investment comes amid widespread pressure on the domestic residential real estate market, where elevated mortgage rates and tight inventory levels continue to diminish buying power for low- and moderate-income families.
