Boutique Fitness Brand SLT Sues Megaformer Manufacturer for $50 Million
SLT has filed a lawsuit seeking at least $50 million against the maker of the Megaformer equipment over long-standing licensing agreements.

Boutique fitness studio operator SLT has filed a lawsuit seeking at least $50 million in damages against the manufacturer of the Megaformer, the signature workout machine featured across its studio network. The legal complaint alleges multiple breaches of contract tied to long-standing licensing agreements that have governed the commercial partnership between the two companies.
According to court documents filed this week, the conflict centers on foundational licensing agreements that date back to 2011. SLT built its brand identity and operations around the high-intensity, low-impact workouts performed on the proprietary Megaformer equipment, growing its footprint across multiple regional markets under those original terms.
The breach-of-contract lawsuit claims that the equipment manufacturer improperly disrupted licensing conditions, compromising SLT's exclusive operational rights and causing significant financial losses. In addition to the monetary damages sought, the filing requests formal injunctive relief to protect SLT's ongoing business operations.
Representatives for the defendant equipment maker have not yet submitted a formal response to the claims in court filings. The case remains in its preliminary phase as legal teams prepare initial motions and discovery requests.
SLT confirmed that its current studio locations will remain fully operational while the lawsuit moves through the court system. The outcome of the high-stakes dispute could set a precedent for licensing and equipment supply arrangements within the broader boutique fitness industry.
