The Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 feature new ambient listening and transcription tools designed to summarize daily conversations and recent audio.

Apple Inc. has unveiled new artificial intelligence features for its latest smartwatch lineup, introducing ambient listening tools capable of transcribing and summarizing ambient conversations. The features, launched under the "Audio Intelligence" suite for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, allow the devices to capture recent speech and generate automated summaries of daily interactions.

Among the updates is "Siri Recap," a tool that can monitor ambient audio throughout the day to generate text summaries of meetings, appointments, and casual conversations upon request. Users can configure the feature to operate continuously, during designated hours, or remain entirely disabled.

The device also introduces "Live Rewind," which transcribes the preceding 15 seconds of spoken audio when triggered by a physical control on the watch crown. To notify individuals nearby, the watch plays an audible chime, displays a microphone indicator, and presents a full-screen animation whenever Live Rewind is activated.

Addressing potential privacy concerns, the company stated that raw audio is neither recorded nor stored locally or on remote servers. The system does not label or identify individual voices, and all generated summaries are secured using end-to-end encryption within the Siri interface.

The Audio Intelligence capabilities represent an expansion of smartwatch functionality beyond traditional fitness tracking and health monitoring, embedding artificial intelligence deeper into everyday personal interactions.
