Apple Discloses $58 Million Pay Package for Incoming Chief Executive

Incoming Chief Executive John Ternus is set to receive $58 million in total compensation during his first full year leading the technology company.

CUPERTINO, Calif. — Apple Inc. has detailed a total compensation package valued at $58 million for John Ternus during his first full year as chief executive officer, according to a corporate disclosure released this week. The pay structure places the executive package just outside the top 20 highest-paid chief executives in the United States.

The compensation arrangement for Ternus includes a base salary, performance-based cash incentives, and substantial long-term equity awards tied to company performance. The majority of the $58 million valuation consists of restricted stock units designed to vest over a multi-year period, aligning executive compensation with shareholder returns.

Ternus, who previously served as Apple's senior vice president of hardware engineering, was designated to succeed long-time chief executive Tim Cook. Cook led the Cupertino-based firm for more than a decade, steering the organization through major product expansions and historic market capitalization growth.

Executive pay across the technology sector remains under close observation from corporate governance groups and institutional investors. Apple reported that the compensation structure was established by the board of directors' compensation committee to align with peer benchmarks and incentivize operational performance.

The regulatory filing comes as the company continues to manage shifting global consumer demand for personal devices, regulatory oversight across international markets, and expanding research and development efforts in artificial intelligence systems.
